In Dec. 1974, Gary Stein was killed in a robbery by a single shotgun blast as he walked along Clark Street in New Haven. Stein, a Yale junior studying chemistry, was described by his roommate as having a "great sense of literature."
Melvin Jones was convicted in the case and spent 15 years in prison.
