Charles, Ninth Earl Spencer, brother of Princess Diana, is flanked by two portraits of Barbara Villiers, one of King Charles II's many mistresses. Spencer's ancestor, the Earl of Sunderland, collected paintings of the king's mistresses. Some are part of the new exhibit at the Yale Center for British Art.
