Ah, it's feeling more and more like Summer every day. And speaking of summer, the Republican and Democratic primaries for Joe Lieberman's soon to be vacant Senate seat are in August. So, first, let's take a look at the Democrats.
Chris Murphy, a shoe-in. A popular Democrat in a blue state. This is his election to lose. He's already in the U.S. House of Representatives. We can save money on moving expenses.
William Tong. Who? Matthew Oakes. Double who?
Tong is a state rep from Fairfield County. He says the last book he read was Ralph Ellison's “Invisible Man.” Perfect. He's pretty much invisible outside of Stamford and New Canaan, or as I like to call it, the New York City suburbs.
And speaking of not being known, Matthew Oakes isn't known outside his apartment. I like him though. He's a regular guy. Politicians call guys like him Joe Six-Pack, Joe Lunchbox. I think of him as Larry The Cable Guy.
And good ol' Susan Bysiewicz, Connecticut's perpetual candidate for anything. She won't be happy until she gets elected to something. Well, not just any something. Something big. President?
And last of all, where she will probably wind up in the results in August, Lee Whitnum. She's the one-trick pony running on one issue, anti-Israel. I think that Governor Malloy said it best.
