The Central Connecticut men's basketball schedule was released Tuesday, a 29-game slate that has the Blue Devils opening Nov. 9 against Yale at the Connecticut 6 Classic in Bridgeport.
From there, Howie Dickenman and Co. hit the road for games Nov. 13 at Purdue and Nov. 16 at Northeastern. The home opener is Nov. 23 against Rider at Detrick Gymnasium.
Other non-conference highlights include a game Dec. 7 at Ohio State. Three days later, on Dec. 10, Central hosts Hartford in the I-84 Rivalry, at 7 p.m.
The Blue Devils open Northeast Conference play Jan. 9 against Wagner at home. That's the first of four consecutive home games to begin NEC play (vs. St. Francis-Pa Jan 11., vs St. Francis-Brooklyn Jan. 16, vs. LIU-Brooklyn Jan. 18).
The season closes with three consecutive road games -- at Bryant Feb. 22, at LIU-Brooklyn Feb. 27, at Sacred Heart March 1. Four road games follow.
The season closes with three consecutive road games -- at Bryant Feb. 22, at LIU-Brooklyn Feb. 27, at Sacred Heart March 1.
Central will play 16 NEC games, playing every conference team twice except for single-game matchups with Robert Morris and Mount St. Mary's.
The lead-up to conference play is a little strange: A home-and-home with, of all schools, Coastal Carolina (both needed home games), Dec. 21 at home and Jan. 3 on the road. Those games sandwich a home game against Division III Albertus Magnus.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
