Women's Equality Workshop Scheduled

The Duncaster Retirement Community will host public workshop on the women's suffrage movemeant and what it means in today's environment, Aug. 26, beginning at 7:30 p.m., at 40 Loeffler Road.

The event corresponds with Women's Equality Day, which is the anniversary of the passage of the 19th amendement granting women the right to vote.

The Duncaster event kicks off with a suffrage parade, followed by a presentation on the suffrage movement by Elizabeth Rose, a historian who has taught at Central Connecticut State Univeristy, Trinity College, Weslyan University and Vanderbilt University.

The program will also include a viewing of the movie "Iron Jawed Angels," featuring a group of passionate and dynamic women who put their lives on the line to fight for womens' right to vote.
