A driver is accused of continuing on to gamble at a casino after hitting a bicyclist, leaving the victim in critical condition.

The collision happened around 6:00 a.m. Wednesday on E. Michigan Ave. near Wattles Rd., in Emmett Township. Police say that the driver of the car left the scene, and went on to Firekeepers Casino, before driving home to the 100 block of Illinois St. in Battle Creek.

Police spotted the car in the garage at the residence and secured a search warrant for the property.

A K-9 Unit discovered the 39 year old driver, William Whitehead, hiding upstairs and taken into custody. Police also arrested a man at the house for obstruction after he told officers to leave, and a woman on unrelated outstanding warrants.

The bicyclist, identified as Roger Rose, is in critical condition in a Kalamazoo hospital. He was heading to his job at the casino when he was hit.
