A Tunie's Natural Grocery & Vitamin Market is opening in Fort Lauderdale next year, becoming the third store for the Coral Springs-based grocery chain.
The shop is slated to open within the first three months of 2015 at 900 N. Federal Hwy., within Park Plaza on the Curve. The 17,000-square-foot store will be at the space previously occupied by Office Depot, which moved just a few doors down within the same plaza.
Tunie's stocks about 30,000 products, all free of artificial ingredients, sweeteners, coloring and preservatives, said Taylor Hamilton, the chain's owner. Its selection includes organic groceries, prepared foods, vitamins, health and beauty products.
Tunie's customers are health-conscious shoppers, "anybody concerned about the type of products they put in their body," Hamilton said.
The company has licensed nutritionists on staff who offer educational services and nutritional counseling at no cost, Hamilton said. Anyone who wants to meet with a nutritionist can make an appointment and meet privately in an office within the store, he said.
The Fort Lauderdale store is also scheduled to host free health seminars given by local health professionals. "Our goal is to make healthy living affordable to everybody," Hamilton said.
Tunie's has been in business since 1993. Its two other stores are in Coral Springs and Palm Beach Gardens.
