Federal energy tax credits: Homeowners can claim a 30 percent tax credit for eligible renewable energy or energy-efficient home improvements that are in place between Jan. 1, 2009 and Dec. 31, 2020. Information is available at energysavers.gov/taxcredits
Florida solar rebate program: Before funding ran out, this program offered Florida homeowners rebates of $100 for solar swimming pool heaters, $500 for solar water heaters and $4 per watt of energy produced from eligible solar panel systems, up to $20,000 per homeowner. It offered businesses up to $5,000 for solar water heaters and up to $100,000 for solar panels.
