Who: Suzanne Bogdan, an equity partner of Fisher & Phillips LLP, was promoted to regional managing partner of the Fort Lauderdale office as a part of a planned transition and successor development within the firm.
Why this is important to the overall organization: I am one of 31 regional office managers or team captains throughout the country. We, along with the three-member management committee, make up the operations group for the entire firm, which helps form policy and determine direction. My appointment is a positive step in the organization's commitment to developing more leaders within the firm. I took the reins from Charley Caulkins, whose insight and wisdom has for many years help guide this office and I have learned a great deal from him. In addition, this is a vote of confidence in my growing role within the firm.
Experience: I have been a lawyer since 1991, practicing primarily in labor and employment law; and with Fisher & Phillips since 1994; became an equity partner in 2000.
Education: BLS from Barry University, Miami Shores 1988; JD, University of Miami 1991.
On the job
Top goal in your new position: Develop more business opportunities for our attorneys and to help our associates develop their expertise and careers.
Favorite place to do business outside of the office: Any opportunity where I can interact with clients face-to-face.
Advice to young person entering the industry: Strive for perfection in your writing; become an expert in a particular area of law; return client calls and emails immediately; and provide practical, business-based advice that the clients can easily understand and implement.
