The Sun Sentinel is to be congratulated for its expose of the Sunrise police. What the department did was to turn law enforcement into a money-making machine — in violation of all professional ethics.
Sting operations serve their purpose, but not in this case. And who authorized them to go beyond their legal jurisdiction into other states and countries to lure potential drug buyers in order to fleece them?
They overreached themselves instead of concentrating on local law enforcement. Think of all the time wasted and the possibility of unwanted outcomes.
The Sun Sentinel merits a Pulitzer Prize.
