What has been your proudest achievement or moment?
First, the day I married by beautiful wife Beatriz and the birth of our children, Maria and Alan. Second, being inducted into the Entrepreneur Hall of Fame at Nova Southeastern University, and now, the Excalibur Award.
How would you describe your leadership style?
Whenever I start a new business, I am involved in day-to-day operations. I need to learn every aspect of that business before I turn it over to my management team. Then, I let then do what I hired them to do – manage.
What do you think is Broward's best asset?
The sun and beach, its beautiful lifestyle and that our community is always evolving.
What do you think is Broward's toughest challenge?
Learning to accept the diversity in our community and embrace it: It's a beautiful thing.
What advice/tip would you give today's entrepreneur?
Never be afraid to fail, always follw your dreams and believe in yourself when others may not. In today's ever-changing world of business, you also have to be able to reinvent yourself and your company.
