Where do you find the best beer in South Florida?
According to on-line voters in our latest Best of South Florida series, the three winners are as different as the beer they serve.
Brewzzi: A brew pub with locations in Boca Raton and West Palm Beach, it's as much about food as the house-made brews. Brewmaster Fran Andrewlevich oversees a selection of beer that has taken several prizes at the prestigious Great American Beer Festival. 2222 Glades Road, Boca Raton, 561-392-2739 and CityPlace, 700 S. Rosemary Ave., West Palm Beach, 561-986-2739, brewzzi.com. Open daily for lunch and dinner.
Original Fat Cats: Located in the bustling Fort Lauderdale entertainment district known as Himmarshee Village, there are more than 75 different beer choices as well as live music, pool, darts and a decidedly young crowd. 320 SW Second St. Fort Lauderdale, 954-467-5867, myspace.com/originalfatcats. Opens at 5 p.m. daily.
Brother Tuckers: It calls itself "an Old World beer and … wine … garden" and takes its name form the Trappist monks who brew some of the finest beer in Belgium. It's draft and bottled selection focuses on Belgian and other Old World-style beer. The menu features inventive pub food. 3332 E Atlantic Blvd., Pompano Beach, 954-785-1984, myspace.com/brothertuckers. Opens at 3 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday.
