Wedded: Michelle Danick and Scott Cherry
This Baltimore couple celebrated their Big Day with an old-school touch

Wedding date: Nov. 24, 2012
Her story: Michelle Danick, 28, grew up in Pikesville. She is the special events manager at Dave & Buster's in Arundel Mills. Her father, Jacob, is the general sales manager for Wilkins Subaru Buick and GMC. Her mother, Marsha, works for the Maryland Board of Nursing as a nurse consultant investigator.
His story: Scott Cherry, 27, grew up in Baltimore. He is a real estate property manager for Maryland Financial Investors, Inc. His father, Howard, recently retired from Baltimore Egg Products, a bakery supplies distributor he owned. His mother, Phyl, is a travel agent.
Their story: Michelle and Scott met through a mutual friend at a Dave Matthews Band concert during the summer of 2009 and began dating the next year.
"We got to know each other that day and then we started casually dating and hanging out," says Scott.
On Oct. 16, 2011, Scott proposed with a princess-cut diamond ring with baguettes on either side from Elegant Slumming in Rehoboth Beach, Del.
"We had made plans to go to Roy's in Harbor East, which is one of our favorite restaurants," says Michelle. "I started to get ready for dinner and I was doing my hair and makeup when I saw the door to the living room was shut. I thought he was just being annoying, so I went in and saw him down on one knee. So I hit him because he always used to joke around with me and fake propose. He had the ring out, and I started freaking out!"
Afterward, the couple called their families with the good news and made arrangements to visit them after dinner; however, when Michelle and Scott arrived at the restaurant, their relatives were already waiting for them.
"My mom and dad were crying. There was champagne on the table and everyone was taking pictures," says Michelle. "I was very surprised."
Later, Michelle and Scott met their friends at James Joyce Irish Pub & Restaurant in Harbor East to celebrate. Scott had even brought in Michelle's best friend from New York.
"It was a crazy elaborate plan," says Michelle. "Everyone knew we were getting engaged except for me."
The place: About 260 guests attended the traditional Jewish ceremony and the subsequent reception at the Grand Lodge of Maryland in Cockeysville. The couple borrowed a 1936 black Packard limousine from one of Scott's clients for their pictures.
Her dress: Michelle wore a Monique Lhuillier ballgown with a sweetheart neckline lace bodice and tulle skirt from Betsy Robinson's Bridal Collection in Pikesville.
"I felt it was elegant and timeless and just classy and I felt very good in it," she says.
Bridal party attire: The bridesmaids wore stone-colored, one-shoulder floor-length Jim Hjelm gowns from Gamberdella Bridal Salon in Towson. Meanwhile, the groom and groomsmen wore traditional black tuxedos with bow ties and suspenders from Tuxedo House in Timonium.
Flowers: Michelle's bouquet was made with ivory roses from Flowers & Fancies in Owings Mills, while the bridesmaids' bouquets and the table centerpieces contained pale pink roses, hydrangeas and orchids.
Music: The band Millennium from Washington Talent Agency performed at the reception.
"They were insane. They were absolutely amazing," says Michelle. "They played all Top 40–everything from Rihanna to Usher to Lady Gaga."
Dessert: Michelle and Scott selected a traditional tiered wedding cake with yellow cake and lemon filling and chocolate cake with raspberry filling from Pariser's Bakery in Baltimore.
Sweet ending: For favors, the couple gave their guests boxes full of Haribo gummi cherries. On the outside, the writing read, "Sweet dreams. Love, The Cherrys."
