Wedding day: Sept. 29, 2012
Her story: Elizabeth Lerie, 24, grew up in Baltimore and is a coordinator of information technology for the University of Maryland. Her parents, Vincent and Debbie Lerie, are both X-ray technicians.
His story: Zachary Zentz, 26, grew up in Baltimore. He is a heating, ventilation and air-conditioning technician, as well as a part-time bartender. His father, John Zentz, is also an HVAC technician. His mother, Lesley Zentz, is a homemaker.
Their story: Elizabeth and Zachary met 10 years ago at a high-school football game. Elizabeth was a freshman at Seton Keough High School and Zachary was a sophomore at the now-closed Cardinal Gibbons School.
"We were friends first, and we'd hang out all the time," explains Elizabeth. "Then a couple of years later, we started dating."
About a week after Valentine's Day last year, Zachary proposed to Beth after dinner at the Chart House Restaurant in Annapolis.
"He surprised me with a hotel room and bought me all of these Valentine's Day gifts to trick me," says Elizabeth. "I opened them all and he said, 'I have one more' and it was my ring."
Zach had bought the princess-cut diamond solitaire ring at Jared's, but for Elizabeth's wedding band, the couple visited Ron George Jewelers in Annapolis for a custom touch.
"My grandmother always told me she wanted me to use her diamonds for my ring, so we did that," says Elizabeth.
The place: About 140 guests attended the ceremony at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Baltimore.
"We wanted someplace dear to Baltimore," says Elizabeth. "And [Archbishop James] Cardinal Gibbons is buried there, which meant a lot to Zach because we met at Gibbons [School]."
Her dress: Elizabeth wore an ivory A-line James Clifford chiffon gown with a sweetheart neckline and cathedral train from Betsy Robinson's Bridal Collection in Pikesville.
"I'm actually sort of a shoe freak and wore four-inch Badgley Mischka heels," she says. "I'm only 4'11 and I didn't want to be short at the altar."
Bridesmaids' dresses: The bridesmaids wore eggplant chiffon dresses from Betsy Robinson's Bridal Collection.
Men's apparel: The groom and groomsmen wore black tuxedos by Calvin Klein with black vests, black ties and ivory shirts from Men's Wearhouse.
Reception: The couple hosted their reception at M&T Bank Stadium, home of the Baltimore Ravens.
"We wanted someplace very Baltimore, somewhere really different," says Elizabeth. "We both love sports and wanted a space for people to walk around."
Before taking pictures on the field, the bridal party played a quick game of football.
"It was a nice break between the ceremony and the reception," says Zach. "It was definitely my favorite moment."
Music: DJ Gary Rasmussen of Absolute Entertainment entertained the crowd for hours.
"The DJ was playing Wilson Phillips' 'Hold On,' and Zach and I were dancing in the middle of the circle and everyone was dancing around us," Elizabeth says. "We were having so much fun."
Dessert: The couple chose a tiered cake from Artistic Desserts in Baltimore. Each tier had a different flavor, including red velvet, chocolate with chocolate ganache and Italian cream cake with peanut butter filling.
For favors, the couple gave guests truffles from Rheb's Candy in Baltimore.
"It's kind of a family tradition in Zach's family to give them for every special occasion," says Elizabeth. "We love their truffles — they're our favorite things. We always fight over the last one."
