Her story: Priscilla Rodriguez, 32, moved frequently during her early childhood because her father was in the Air Force. She moved to Maryland in middle school. She has worked in information technology management for the last 13 years and currently works for Verizon. Her mother, Maribel Rodriguez, lives in Severn. Her father, Benito Rodriguez , lives in Atlanta.
His story: Michael Ruth, 36, grew up in Severn. He also works in IT and is a project manager at Citigroup. His mother, Renita Gambrill, lives in Severn. His father, Walter Ruth, lives in Arizona.
Their story: The couple met in 2011 when Priscilla's best friend married Michael's cousin. Priscilla and Michael crossed paths at several events hosted by mutual friends but didn't go on a first date until February 2013. They met for coffee at the Starbucks on Arundel Mills Boulevard.
The proposal: Priscilla and Michael spent the morning together on Oct. 18, 2013, beginning with breakfast at Eggspectation in Ellicott City, followed by a visit to The Mall in Columbia, where Michael secretly picked up a princess-cut, pave band engagement ring from Zales.
He proposed later that day in front of his daughter, 13-year-old Leilana, and Priscilla's daughters, 12-year-old Maeona and 6-year-old Alanah.
"He just expressed how important I was to him and how much I meant to him," Priscilla says. "I knew that we went looking for rings, so I was expecting it to come, but I didn't know it was going to come then. It was very intimate and very heartfelt."
The family lives in Ellicott City.
Venue: The ceremony at Ellicott City Weddings and Events on Main Street in Ellicott City was attended by 20 guests. A private dinner followed across the street at Portalli's Italian Restaurant.
Flowers: My Flower Box Events in Glen Burnie made bouquets and boutonnieres using white hydrangeas and gerbera daisies accented by white and pink roses.
Her dress: The bride wore a strapless fit-and-flare gown with a draped bodice and full tulle skirt from the White by Vera Wang collection at David's Bridal. She also wore a beaded satin sash and an Oleg Cassini beaded tiara, both from David's Bridal.
Bridesmaids' dresses: Leilana and Maeona were junior bridesmaids and wore matching sleeveless black cocktail dresses from H&M, which were accented by champagne-colored satin sashes from David's Bridal. Alanah, the flower girl, wore a white sleeveless tulle dress from mykidstudio.com.
Men's attire: Michael and Benito Rodriguez wore matching black tuxedos from Men's Wearhouse. Michael wore a striped champagne and ivory tie.
Food and dessert: Portalli's made pesto primavera, lasagna Bolognese, grilled salmon and chicken Florentine for dinner.
Pomatinis, grapefruit cosmopolitans and other cocktails were served throughout the evening. Tiramisu was served for dessert.
Favors: Guests received personalized sachets filled with mints and tied with champagne-colored ribbons and a charm that read "to love and to cherish."
