Wedding date: Dec. 31, 2012
Her story: Tiffany Trask, 26, grew up in Columbia and is a nurse in the Navy. Her mother, Karen, is a financial analyst and her father, Tim, is a building supervisor.
His story: Jason Harriman, 30, grew up in Laurel. He is a sales representative for an Anheuser-Busch distributor. His father, Guy, is retired, and his mother, Sandra, is the vice president of development at Howard County General Hospital.
Their story: Tiffany and Jason met at a happy hour in Ellicott City through mutual friends. Upon discovering their mutual love for the Redskins, Jason jokingly proposed to Tiffany that night. The two officially began dating in September 2008, and Jason proposed in February 2012 with a round-cut diamond engagement ring from Zales.
"We're not the mushy-mushy type, so I thought it would be funny to propose while she was in the shower," explains Jason. "We were getting ready to go out one night, and I got down on one knee while she had soapy hair. She was caught off guard, but it was pretty cute."
"For our personalities and knowing all our friends, we wanted it to be one big party," says Tiffany. "Plus, it's New Year's Eve, so it's an anniversary we won't forget and we'll always have something fun to do."
Even though the couple are currently living in San Diego, they decided to get married in Maryland because their relatives and friends live here. They chose Annapolis because it's on the water and there were fireworks at midnight.
Her gown: Tiffany wore a white Blue by Enzoani strapless gown with a sweetheart neckline, beading on the bodice and ruching on one side, from Venus Bridal Collection in Ellicott City. She wore blue TOMS as her "something blue."
Bridesmaids' gowns: The bridesmaids wore strapless black floor-length gowns from Venus Bridal Collection.
"When RGIII [Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III] won the Heisman Trophy [in 2011], he wore Superman socks with capes on them," says Tiffany. "Jason ordered them online and showed them off when we were announced at the reception."
Flowers: The couple chose a mixture of white flowers, including roses and white anemones, from DellaBlooms and Gifts in Columbia.
Music: String Poets, a string trio from Columbia, played "Hail to the Redskins" as Tiffany and Jason walked down the aisle after the ceremony. At the reception, DJ Pouya from MusicMasters played for the guests and led everyone in a countdown to midnight. The couple supplied their guests with party hats and noisemakers to welcome the new year.
"We could watch the fireworks off the balcony of the ballroom," says Tiffany. "It worked out really perfectly."
Dessert: Tiffany and Jason selected an assortment of cupcakes from Kupcakes & Co. in Elkridge, including pancakes and bacon, mint chocolate chip, eggnog, vanilla buttercream and red velvet.
