Wedded: Daniela Garita and Michael Boblitz met while he was visiting Costa Rica

He went to Costa Rica to visit friends, and ended up meeting his future wife.

Date: Jan. 29

Her story: Daniela Garita, 22, was born in San Jose, Costa Rica. She works as an administrative assistant in a trauma hospital in the Baltimore area. Her parents, Jorge and Yamileth Garita, live in Costa Rica.

His story: Michael Boblitz, 24, was born and raised in Annapolis. He's pursuing a doctorate in pharmacy at the University of Maryland and is scheduled to graduate in May. His parents, George and Susan Boblitz, live in Pasadena.

Their story: The couple met in Coronado, Costa Rica, in July 2013.

"Some friends I had met in the States invited me to stay with them for a few weeks at their home in Costa Rica," Michael said. "We met at a gathering at my friend's house and began corresponding through Skype and text messages. Over two years and 10 flights later, we are married.

"I thought that she was an intelligent, determined and beautiful woman," he said. "I didn't go to Costa Rica with the intention of meeting someone, but she was someone that I wanted to get to know more."

The couple live in Pasadena.

The proposal: Michael proposed to Daniela on Dec. 20, 2014, during a late-night carriage ride through Central Park in New York City.

"I was excited and also nervous," he said. "She seemed more surprised than I thought she would be."

Daniela was so caught off guard, her response was: "Are you sure?"

Venue: Forty guests attended the wedding and reception at the Maryland Inn, part of the Historic Inns of Annapolis. The couple had planned to get married in Costa Rica, but because Daniela was going through the process of getting a visa, they couldn't leave the country.

The wedding was further complicated by a snowstorm

"It wasn't easy given that we had already dealt with so many problems trying to organize the wedding in the first place," Michael recalled. "On the other hand, it was Daniela's and her parents' first time seeing snow, so rather than worry ourselves about what we couldn't change, we took the time to enjoy the snow."

Flowers and decor: Maher's Florist from Pasadena provided the flowers.

Bride's dress: Daniela wore a Oleg Cassini dress from David's Bridal. She did not have a bridal party.

Men's attire: Michael wore a black tuxedo and tie by J. Ferrar. He did not have groomsmen.

Music: C&J's Entertainment provided the music. The couple's first dance was to "Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sheeran.

Food and dessert: Historic Inns of Annapolis catered the dinner, which consisted of beef with mushrooms, pork chops and shrimp scampi, with sides of risotto, roasted potatoes and green beans.

Lauer's Bakery in Pasadena provided the cake, which included layers of rum, lemon and chocolate.

Special touches: The couple spent their honeymoon in Las Vegas and also visited the Grand Canyon.
