While I’m too controlling and Type-A for a destination wedding I do sometimes think about what it would be like to just hop on a plane and get married on a beach or island somewhere.
That daydream got me thinking about where I would actually go. I’ve been on vacation in Mexico and Jamaica where I saw couples getting married on the beach at our all-inclusive resort and then celebrate the rest of the week with their close family and friends. But then I wonder, does that mean you are spending your honeymoon with others, or do you have another vacation on top of your vacation?
Sam’s mom and stepdad got married on a cruise with the kids and their parents along. That sounds like fun and a great option for combining families and making sure everyone is involved. But if you’re not combining families and just want to get away to tie the knot, how do you pick where to go?
Well, during my daydream I did some searching and found the following places are some of the top destination wedding hot spots, including close to home and far, far away.
- Alaska (brrr!)
- Las Vegas
- Vail, Colorado
- Key West
- Florence, Italy
- Paris, France (the city of love!)
- New Zealand
- Virgin Islands
- South Africa
- Barcelona, Spain
- Costa Rica
So now the question is: Do any of these make you want to jump on a plane and say “I do”?Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
