As I have mentioned before, I think it's important for a person like myself to have a day-of coordinator. My friends who have used them say wonderful things about being less stressed and being able to enjoy the day to its fullest potential.
I understand that they are useful in terms of the flow of the wedding and troubleshooting but I also believe wedding coordinators have a tendency to go above and beyond. For example, one coordinator pulled the mother of the groom out of the bathroom so she didn't miss a family photo opportunity. She did this on her own without being asked. Another friend of mine came home to the surprise of all of her gifts and cards neatly stacked and safe at her home.
I am currently doing research to find someone who will be as attentive the day-of but who can also help me decorate and beautify the ceremony and reception. There are a lot of little details that I know I won't even think of and I would like to have someone who is creative help me brainstorm and then execute ideas for me. Wedding coordinator packages that offer this service seem pretty pricey, and I'm not sure I'm willing to pay the extra expense.
Do any Baltimore brides have advice for me or can you recommend someone you are using? I have plenty of family and friends who have offered to help with crafts but I just don't have any ideas for them to start working on.
