Furry calendar models sought

PetsElections

You know those thousands of photos you've taken of your pet? It's time to put them to great use, potentially making Fido or Fluffy a star and raising money to help homeless pets in Harford County. The Humane Society there has launched its fourth annual Make Your Pet a Pin-Up calendar contest, and the search is on for the 2014 calendar's cover model.

Photos of pets of every kind are welcomed and encouraged. The pet photo with the most votes (each vote is a donation) at the end of the contest will be awarded the cover page of the calendar and two tickets to the Bow Wow Boogie, which is the county's largest gala benefitting homeless and neglected animals. The second-place pet will be January's photo of the month and receive five free calendars, and the third-place winner will be February's pet of the month and receive two free calendars. Pets who place in fourth through 13th place will be featured inside as pet of the month. Entries that don't place in the top 14 will be featured on a collage page in the calendar.

To enter pet photos online, visit 360photocontest.com/227. A $10 minimum donation is required for every photo, and photos may only contain animals -- enter as many as you wish.

Entries may also be submitted by postal mail, to:
Humane Society of Harford County's Calendar Contest
2208 Connolly Road
Fallston, MD 20147

Include your donation with your photos. Family and friends can vote for your photos via a special website that will be sent to all participants, and votes cost $1 each, with a minimum of five votes per person. Business sponsorships are also available for $250 each.

Photo contest and sponsorship details are available at 360photocontest.com/227; the contest runs through Nov. 10., and calendars will be available for $10 each or 10 for $75.
