Jade has traveled a long way to have to opportunity to get adopted out of our shelter. She was originally dropped off at a shelter in North Carolina and, unfortunately, we do not know much about her history before that. When she first came into our shelter she was very timid and shy. She would back into the corner and crouch low to the ground when someone tried to pet or go near her. Her confidence has been building slowly here at the shelter and she is beginning to blossom into the dog she will become. Jade recently went to a healing touch class, which is a very calm environment run by patient people who sit and pet the shy dogs. She loved every minute of this and relaxed right away. Jade is looking for someone who can show her that the world is not always a terrifying place.

It's high cat season in Baltimore-area shelters, and their kitty condos are bursting at the seams with friendly felines who need homes. If you've been thinking of adding a sweet cat to your family, this weekend is your big chance: the Maryland SPCA is waiving all adoption fees this Saturday and Sunday.
All cats and kittens will be spayed/neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations. Regular adoption procedures apply, as does a $17 Pet ID package fee, which includes collar, ID tag, Baltimore City license, and microchip.
MD SPCA staff say they'll have more than 60 kittens and cats ready for their forever homes this weekend, including Lucky (pictured).
To meet your new best friend and save money in the process, visit the shelter at 3300 Falls Road, Baltimore. For more information, visit mdspca.org or call 410.235.8826.
