Kitty( Christopher T. Assaf, Baltimore Sun photo / September 24, 2013 )
Kitty the cat arrived on Danielle Bryan's doorstep 10 years ago, and after a cursory look around the Oella house, took charge of things. "When he came into the living room, he looked around for a minute or two, and then jumped up on the couch to sit next to me," Bryan remembers, saying she knew at that moment it was true love.
These days, Kitty spends much of his day sleeping on his back with his paws in the air, and snoozing in bed with his owner at night, his paw on her shoulder. He enjoys trips outside with Bryan, where he chases (but never catches) butterflies, and showing off his acrobatic skills -- his proud owner says he can climb five or six feet up the living room wall. "I always say, 'You the man, Kitty,'" she says. His favorite foods are Meow Mix and Fancy Feast, and he loves chowing down on the contents of a near-empty can of tuna from time to time. "Based on his good looks, he believes he is entitled to a treat every time I walk into the kitchen," says Bryan.
"Most times I have to sweep or clean around him as he watches me," says Bryan, listing piles of bills, newspapers, and board games as Kitty's favorite places to plop down. And he doesn't hesitate to let the younger cat, Ella, know who's boss.
"Kitty is a very confident cat, and he knows who he is and that he's my best friend," says Bryan. "I am so glad he came into my life."
