Max( Christopher T. Assaf, Baltimore Sun photo / August 11, 2013 )
Max, who found his forever home after a lifetime bouncing around, has a thing for shoes.
A 7-year-old rough collie adopted two years ago by Sue Roberts through Collie Rescue Inc., Max's history includes at least two homes that were supposed to be permanent, one shelter, and two stints with foster families. Now settled in with Roberts and her husband, Brad, in Bel Air, Max is spoiled rotten and can do no wrong.
"One of Max's favorite activities is finding a shoe or slipper ... and prancing around the house with it, almost as if saying, 'Look at me!' " says Sue Roberts.
Roberts says she and her husband laugh at Max when he sleeps, which he prefers doing flat on his back with his paws and jaw limp. "His teeth are showing," she says.
"My husband and I are pretty much empty nesters, with our 24-year-old daughter stopping by occasionally to catch us up on her life," says Roberts. "So Max is our little boy."
"It took Max a few months to settle in with us," she says, "but he is so worth it! We hope to have Max as a member of our family for many more years."
