We love our pets, but what about all that dog and cat hair all over the place? How can you keep your home and car hair-free? Consumer Reports just tested products that promise to help.

The $6 Pledge Fabric Sweeper claims that it can quickly and easily pick up pet hair. Consumer Reports compared it with three Scotch products—the regular Scotch lint roller and the Scotch Pet Hair roller, both with sticky, tear-off sheets, and the Scotch Fur Fighter Hair Remover, with removable sheets.

All of the Scotch products did remove hair, but it was a little tedious. The sheets can quickly fill up, and you need to keep using a new one in order to get the job done.

The Pledge Fabric Sweeper was much easier to use. It has two lint-collecting, fabric-covered rollers that work together to move the hair into the collection compartment. Cleaning up cats' hairy mess on a bench was fast. So was removing pet hair from pillows, chairs, and even a carpet. When there's a lot of hair, you might have to stop and remove it, but that's easy to do.

The instructions for the Pledge Fabric Sweeper say to throw it away when it's full. But Consumer Reports says it's easy to remove a roller, take out the hair, and use it again.

On the whole, Consumer Reports says the Pledge Fabric Sweeper cleans up pet hair quickly and easily. That'll give you more time to spend with your furry friends.
