The two-acre property, at 12 Weems Creek Drive, belonged to a now-retired luxury home builder, who designed and built the four-bedroom, 41/2 -bath house in 1996. The home went on the market in January for $4.9 million and sold in October for $4.4 million.
The seller had torn down the original structure, once the summer home of a Baltimore physician and his family. He'd built the new, 4,800-square-foot home in almost the same footprint, said Florence M. Calvert, an associate broker with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in the Annapolis Church Circle office, who listed the property.
The house sits just over the Little Weems Creek Bridge that leads into the city of Annapolis, minutes from the City Dock. It features 640 feet of frontage on the creek and two slips suitable for 90-foot yachts.
"It's just a really lovely exterior" of cedar and river stone, Calvert said, with a cedar shake roof with copper gutters and a screened porch overlooking a patio and the creek.
"You had water views from everywhere. It was a nice gentle, paved slope down to the pier. It's up off the water, so you have a nice view … but are still able to get down to the water easily."
Calvert described the house's style as "transitional." It has a three-car garage, a first-floor master suite, an office/library on the main level with built-in shelving, and a great room with a vaulted cedar ceiling and floor-to-ceiling windows framing a stone fireplace.
The kitchen, with cherry cabinets and granite countertops, opens to the family room, which opens to the terrace and waterfront. Solid red oak flooring was used throughout the house along with granite, marble and, in the foyer, Mexican limestone.
