St. Michaels isn't just a summertime destination. Twinkly lights along the Eastern Shore town's Talbot Street have turned it into a sparkling winter wonderland of wonderful little shops. This is also its annual "Christmas in St. Michael's" weekend with all sorts of extra activities that can make a trip there add a little extra holiday joy. -- Sloane Brown

What's in Store: Claire Murray
This is one of about a dozen shops in a small New England/East Coast chain. It's known for its hand-hooked rugs and accessories -- all created by the renowned Nantucket designer. Right now, the St. Michaels shop is holding a year-end 40 percent off sale on all hand-hooked rugs. In addition to her regular collections, Murray also designs a collection especially for each of her stores. This 60-inch round "Chesapeake Bay Blue Crab" rug ($800/regular price) is part of the collection created for the St. Michaels store and comes in a variety of shapes and sizes.
