Cooler temperatures finally have me believing it's fall. What can I do to decorate my home so that the inside feels as autumn-like as the outside?
The change in season marks a fantastic time to focus on your home. Earth tones, warmth and vivid contrasts are all evocative of fall. You can make some quick changes inside to reflect the changes outside. We asked Nicholas Johnson, owner of Su Casa, to offer some tips:
•Try a new rug to warm up your space. Roll up your old one, tuck it behind the sofa or in a closet. You can use natural fibers and maybe even a deeper pile to really warm up the space.
•Add a touch of bright contrasts by switching out your throw pillows, it's easier than switching out the furniture. You can use your throw pillows to make a statement or to subtly change the theme of a room.
•If you don't have fall dishware, try adding a serving piece or two that can double as a centerpiece on your table when you aren't dining.
•Add all sorts of décor elements to bring a bit of nature inside. You can use real vegetables like pumpkins and other gourds or if you want them to last a little longer, invest in some high quality faux gourds. You can personalize either by spray painting them or adding other personal touches.
With fall comes the transition to more time indoors, cooking hearty meals, time with family and friends and cheering on the Ravens!
