Remember a couple months back when the Washington Blade promised an issue dedicated to sports and edited by former Ravens linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo?
It hits stands Friday.
According to Kevin Naff, the Blade's editor, the issue will include a "broad array of news and commentary from leading sports figures," including lesbian tennis player Martina Navratilova, gay footballer Wade Davis and University of Maryland wrestler and Athlete Ally founder Hudson Taylor, among others.
With multiple big-sport athletes coming out in recent months, and national sports leagues taking a deeper look at what it means to be inclusive and accepting, what better time?
The issue will hit stands on Aug. 30, and online at washingtonblade.com on Aug. 29. The Blade can be found in Baltimore, including at Grand Central, the Hippo, the Gay & Lesbian Community Center of Baltimore, the Barnes & Noble store in Charles Village and at other gay-friendly establishments.
