From a ballroom performance show to a discussion on hate crimes with Baltimore Police Commissioner Anthony Batts, the next two weeks are packed with a wide variety of Baltimore Black Pride events.
And they start tonight!
With the theme "A New Era: Evolution 2013," this year's events are meant to support the organization's goals of outreach and education within the black LGBT population of Baltimore. They are the first Black Pride events planned under a new partnership between Baltimore Black Pride and the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Community Center of Baltimore.
You can find a full list of events here, from tonight's karaoke event at Ziazcoz all the way to the "Fall Festival" at Club Bunns on the night of Oct. 13.
On the list, there are forums to discuss health concerns, nights out, a fashion show, a work out training session and a discussion about homophobia within the black community.
There's also the annual ICONS We Love Awards program on Oct. 12, where, among others, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, an outspoken LGBT advocate, will be given an ICON award.
Some events cost money, others are free.
