Angelina Jolie's wedding gown celebrated family. Donatella Versace designed the custom silk satin gown for Jolie's wedding Aug. 23 to longtime partner Brad Pitt. The gown was gathered at the bust and featured an elongated train, with both the train and veil featuring embroidered copies of drawings by Jolie and Pitt's children, according to a news release from Atelier Versace.

Today's diet news says cut carbs and increase fats to lose weight. A major new study financed by the Institutes of Health compared a group told to eat a carb-based diet with one on a protein-and-fat-based diet (no transfats allowed), and the latter lost more weight while seeing improvements in inflammation markers, triglyceride levels and HDL ("good") cholesterol. There was no calorie limit or change in exercise level. [New York Times]

Ashlee Simpson, Gabrielle Union and Jenny McCarthy all got married over the weekend. For her wedding to Donnie Wahlberg, McCarthy chose an elegant Ines Di Santo strapless gown with a deep sweetheart cut at the bodice and floral detail at the hip. [People]
