Kristan Cunningham, best known as one of the hosts of HGTV's “Design on a Dime,” has learned a thing or two about money-saving renovations. When the interior designer and her longtime boyfriend, Scott Jarrell, moved into a Venice canal district house last year, they faced a challenge: how to make the space their own without investing a lot of money in a rental. The challenge started in the kitchen, where the couple gave themselves a $1,000 budget.
