Wine, Women & Mark

Most of our current members have been with the club since the beginning, a little more than seven years ago. We have one faithful male member, hence the title of our book club. We are in Darien.

We meet once a month at a member's home; or, in the summer, we like to go out for dinner at an outdoor cafe or to a wine shop.

We have a chocolate fine for those who don't read the book (we read that in an earlier book club article and adopted it for ourselves).

Once a member read a different book with a similar title.

Books we liked: "Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet" by Jamie Ford, "My Life in France" by Julia Child with Alex Prud'homme, "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak, "Unbroken" by Laura Hillenbrand and "In the Garden of Beasts" by Erik Larson.

We didn't like: "Luncheon of the Boating Party" by Susan Vreeland and "Lucifer's Shadow" by David Hewson.
