Aug 8: Painful eviction

Jean Thomas holds her granddaughter Caliya Gainey, 8, while a friend James Jackson (back left) and her husband Sherman Thomas (back right) take items from the house to a rental truck. They received an eviction notice based on the fact that their two adult sons, who have drug-related criminal records, listed the parents' residence as their own, which Edgewood Management says is a violation of the lease. The Thomases live with their daughter Cassandra and her four children, and say their sons have never lived in their rent-subsidized rowhouse at the Townes at the Terraces. They have not yet been able to find another place to live.
