June 10: Sentinels of pollution

( Amy Davis / July 10, 2012 ) Osprey circle a nest near Hart Miller Island. Scientists from the USGS-Patuxent Wildlife Research Center have been monitoring osprey nests in the Back River area every 10 days since mid-March when the osprey returned to their nests from South America. The research is being done because Osprey are often sentinels for pollution. |
