Michael Voltaggio designed shoes, and they're kind of ugly

Micheal Voltaggio, chef at Ink and Ink.sack, is trying his hand at shoe design. The "Top Chef" alum has teamed up with Malibu-based shoe company OTZ for a collaboration they're calling Culinary Brigade

Voltaggio designed two pairs of shoes for the company, a lace-up design ($165) and a slip-on ($175). Both look like an ugly hybrid of Toms and the serrated bottoms of a pair of Uggs.

The shoes, which are currently available on are meant for use in the kitchen and hospitality environments, according to the product description. There's a durable anti-microbial cork bottom and anti-slip rubber soles.

But then the description says the shoes "can also be worn after work." We'd have to disagree with you there.

The shoes may not exactly be a fashion statement, but they're definitely a step up from Mario Batali's favorite orange Crocs.
