After the release of the blockbuster film “Wonder Woman,” starring actress Gal Gadot, many people are still on a superhero high — including Oprah Winfrey, who deemed it “Wonder Woman Day” at her house earlier this week and enlisted a locally founded bakery to help with the celebration.
Along with Wonder Woman-themed cups, popcorn buckets and flip-flops, the media powerhouse announced on her Instagram Tuesday that she had enlisted bakery Charm City Cakes to create a themed cake for a “Wonder Woman” party she was throwing for 28 10-year-olds.
The bakery, founded in Remington in 2002 by celebrity chef and University of Maryland, Baltimore County alum Duff Goldman, also has locations in Harbor East, which opened earlier this year, and in Los Angeles, which opened in 2011.
Edible artist and decorator Tiana Sakona, who works at Charm City Cake West in Los Angeles, delivered the cake, which was adorned with red frosting and an icing replica of the Amazonian princess’s golden tiara. Oprah assisted Sakona in the finishing touches, crowning the cake with a miniature “Wonder Woman” in her signature powerful stance.
In another video, Oprah sported Wonder Woman wrist cuffs and her own tiara as she prepared for the party, even crowning her dog Sadie with a tiara for the superhero celebration.
