Maryland's Cowgirls of Color featured in Ford commercial that will air during Olympics

Maryland’s Cowgirls of Color, a rodeo team of black women, will be featured in a Ford commercial airing Saturday during NBC’s prime-time Olympics coverage, according to a release from the auto maker.

The commercial, “We the People,” kicks off the launch of one of Ford’s newest SUVs, the 2018 Expedition, and displays various groups of people coming together during times of celebration.

The Cowgirls of Color, who competed last year in the Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo, the country’s only African-American touring rodeo competition, can be seen around the video’s 5-second mark, the 30-second mark and again around 43 seconds, riding beside the Expedition.

The group will host a viewing party of the 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. broadcast on Saturday night, when the commercial makes its world debut.
