Should we be happy for them?
Ray Rice and the former Janay Palmer, his longtime girlfriend and mother of his two-year-old daughter, celebrated their marriage last week at the Four Seasons Baltimore in front of friends, including fellow Ravens Torrey Smith and Lardarius Webb.
Rice and Palmer, you may recall, were married in a private ceremony in March, a day after he was indicted on third-degree assault charges for allegedly knocking her unconscious.
The couple remains in family counseling under a plea deal that Rice struck with prosecutors in May. The running back was accepted into a program for first-time offenders that allowed him to avoid a trial. Rice must avoid getting in trouble for the next year, under the terms of the deal.
Many expect that Rice will be suspended from the team over the incident, which occurred Feb. 15 in an Atlantic City casino. The Ravens are still waiting on a ruling on Rice's discipline from the NFL.
But, enough about all that. Let's talk about the reception.
According to the team's web site, Mr. and Mrs. Rice celebrated their vows with current and former Ravens on Friday. He wore a gray tuxedo; she, a shimmering, form-fitting gown. Their 2-year-old daughter, Rayven, danced to Pharrell's "Happy" at the reception.
More details about the celebration were not immediately available.
Several current and former Ravens posted pictures of the event on Instagram.
"Wedding day flow!! As my boy Ray Rice and Janay unite in marriage!!" wrote linebacker Josh Bynes.
