Baltimore City Council condemns Trump's rhetoric, days before his visit

Prince to release song dedicated to Baltimore

The Baltimore Sun
The Prince of Baltimore.

Of all the celebrity reaction to the Freddie Gray case, this will no doubt be the most lyrical.

Prince has recorded a song as a tribute to Baltimore that addresses the city's recent unrest as well as "the slew of killings of young black men," said a spokeswoman.

The performer also planned a "Dance Rally 4 Peace" in Minneapolis on Saturday night, asking everyone to wear gray in memory of Freddie Gray.

According to Billboard, the song was recorded over the past week at the singer's Paisley Park studios in Minnesota.

A release date has not been set but artwork for the single appears to show an illustration of Prince with a chain around his neck.

Fox9.com, the Minneapolis-St. Paul Fox TV affiliate near Prince's Paisley Park recording compound, talked with the singer about the song in a story published Friday.

Fox9.com reports that the single, titled "Baltimore," has the following lyrics:

BALTIMORE

NOBODY GOT IN NOBODY'S WAY
SO EYE GUESS U COULD SAY
IT WAS A GOOD DAY
AT LEAST A LITTLE BETTER THAN THE DAY IN BALTIMORE

DOES ANYBODY HEAR US PRAY?
4 MICHAEL BROWN OR FREDDIE GRAY PEACE IS MORE THAN THE ABSENCE OF WAR
ABSENCE OF WAR

R WE GONNA C ANOTHER BLOODY DAY?
WE'RE TIRED OF CRYIN' & PEOPLE DYIN'
LET'S TAKE ALL THE GUNS AWAY

ABSENCE OF WAR- U AND ME
MAYBE WE CAN FINALLY SAY
ENUFF IS ENUFF IT'S TIME 4 LOVE

IT'S TIME 2 HEAR,
IT'S TIME 2 HEAR

THE GUITAR PLAY! (guitar solo)
