This Sunday, he'll take on another, slightly more colorful role -- Oscars correspondent for the NFL Network.
Reed will cover the red carpet for a special edition of The Rich Eisen Podcast, which will air at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday on the network.
While he might not seem like it to the average football fan, Reed was an obvious choice for Eisen.
"He's a real person who happens to be a Hall of Fame talent," Eisen said. "He's engaging and funny as all get out. He's going to be perfect."
Reed will be positioned in an ideal spot, right at the mouth of the steps to the Kodak Theater, Eisen said. His advice for Reed? "Be yourself."
"It's a madhouse with the amount of media that's there," Eisen said. "So to have somebody of his popularity? There are going to be celebrities who come up to him."
Since the Oscars take place at the same time as the NFL Scouting Combine, Eisen's show will combine the two. Last year, his Oscars correspondent was former Steeler Hines Ward, and Eisen admits there are some Ravens fans who will be happy the Ravens took the job from the Steelers.
"He's taking everything from the Steelers," Eisen said. "Why not the Oscars?"
