1. The Vine
1500 S. Hanover St.
Was originally Carney's Seafood, then became George's Tavern. In 1942, it became the Victory Tavern and, in 2004, the Vine.
2. Fort Charles Pub
1439 S. Charles St.
Opened in 1982 in the 1895 building that once housed Bissard's, a restaurant and banquet hall.
3. Muir's Tavern
36 E. Fort Ave.
Has been owned by the Muir family since 1944. Before that the building housed Victoria's Pleasure Club and Kessler's Cafe.
4. The Garden Restaurant and Lounge
1501 Light St.
Has been owned by the Melton family since 1968. Before that it was known as the Garden Confectionery.
5. Idle Hour
201 E. Fort Ave.
Opened in 2003. Formerly: the End Zone, the Blue Room, Davis Cafe, Fort Tavern, Catherine's Cafe, Bernie's Place, Phil's Place, Tommy's Tavern, Joe's Place, Snyder's Tavern and Idle Hour.
6. Southside Saloon
430 E. Fort Ave.
Has been around since 2000. Formerly: the Morgue, Sud Suckers, Top Deck, Dick's Place, Conrad's Tavern, Wenger's Tap Room and Meyers' Tavern.
7. Hogan's Alley
1501 Covington St.
Was known as Cox's from 1975 to 2004. Before that, it was known as Scaff's, the Cas-Bar, Tony's Tavern, Covington Tavern, Hodges' Tavern and Wendel's Cafe.
8. The Sly Fox Pub
554 E. Fort Ave.
Opened last year by the operators of the Annapolis tavern of the same name. From 2001 to 2004, the building housed Soigne, a French restaurant.
9. Captain Larry's
601 E. Fort Ave.
Has been under that name since 1991 -- first under Larry Gross, and, since 2001, under owner Faith Laarkamp. Formerly: Pete's American Bar, American Bar and the Aegean Bar.
10. Rafters
620 E. Fort Ave.
Opened by two brothers from Lancaster, Pa., in 2004. Formerly: Hartlove's, Leone's Cafe, Hale's Cafe and Pop's Cafe.
11. Paul's
701 E. Fort Ave.
Opened by Paul Zang, a Cross Street butcher turned barkeeper, who moved his Cross Street bar to Fort Avenue in 2000. Formerly: the Avenue.
12. Lime
801 E. Fort Ave.
A tequila bar that opened last year. Formerly: Mox's Place, Wild Bill's Saloon, Stumblin' Inn, Driftwood Inn, Polly's Pub, Buckey's, Buck and Steve's, Kay's Bar, Riverside Tavern, Ryer Tavern, Vollmer's and Boyle Pleasure Club.
13. Skybox
823 E. Fort Ave.
Was opened in 2005 by John Giorgakis, who also runs the Hilltop, a Fort Avenue pizzeria. Formerly: Empty Pockets, the Cellblock and Byrne's.
14. The Wine Market
921 E. Fort Ave.
In the Foundry on Fort, a one-time industrial building that now houses a day spa, health club and coffee shop. Christopher Spann opened the Wine Market in 2003.
15. Nasu Blanca
1036 E. Fort Ave.
A soon-to-open Japanese-Spanish restaurant at what formerly was Backfinz and Henry's Bar.
16. LP Steamers
1100 E. Fort Ave.
Has been a crab house since 1996. Formerly: Fuzzy's Rendezvous, Roger's Porthole Pub, Sterling's Cozy Corner, Lou's Cozy Corner, Kory's Restaurant, Angie's Restaurant and Stanley's Restaurant.
17. The French Quarter
1120 E. Fort Ave.
Opened in 1975 and has been closed for about a year. Formerly: Marine Bar, White House Tavern.
18. Truman's
1230 E. Fort Ave.
Opened in 2002. Formerly: Bottoms Up, Mary's Lounge, Mary's Place and Hicky's Cut Rate.
19. City Limits
1700 E. Fort Ave.
Opened in 1998 by Dave Malicki. Formerly: Pasquale's, Sherry's, Hook's Shelter Deck and Bannon Cafe.
20. LP Docks
1476 Reynolds St. (at Fort Avenue)
Has been listed under three different owners since it opened in 1991. Formerly: My Two Sons, Matcuk's Tavern, Tucker's Tavern, Tony's
