Taste for Life

It's always easy to spot Rhonda Overby, 46, at one of the many fundraising events she attends. Just look for the glorious mass of curls bobbing through the crowd. The president and CEO of Camera Ready Inc., a public relations, marketing and media production firm, says she's known for her "big hair. In winter, it might be hidden under a hat. But if it's out, it's big."

It was "out there" in fabulous fashion at Taste for Life, a food-and-wine-tasting fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.

"Fashion is a form of creative expression for me," said the Worthington Valley resident. "Before getting dressed, I consider the setting, the climate and my mood."

Clearly, her mood that night was a perfect fit for the summery soiree.

HER STYLE: "Fashion-forward with a range between playful and conservative, and sometimes with an edge."

HER ENSEMBLE: Deep red jersey halter-top Soprano jumpsuit from Loehmann's. Diamond and gold pearl earrings by YVEL, an Israeli jewelry designer, that she bought at a trunk show at J. Brown Jewelers. Gold and brown leather strappy platform Dolce Vita sandals from Neiman Marcus. Her Rolex watch was a gift. An amethyst ring she bought from an estate sale. Red leather Bulgari mini-tote that she bought on sale at Filene's Basement "years ago." An enameled Hermes cuff that was a gift.

FASHION FAVES: "Handbags. I don't like a lot of patterns. I prefer solids. I prefer quality. ... I don't know that I necessarily enjoy shopping, per se. But I enjoy an incredible deal. If I am abroad, because shopping can take you so close to the culture, then that I enjoy. Because of the language and the nuances, that's an experience."

FASHION FOREVER: She gets pieces and uses them for years. "Many years; decades even. ... I grew up impoverished. So we were 'green' long before it became part of the vernacular. As it was, hand-me-downs [were] the way of life for us. So I have a very hard time just getting rid of things."
