It's no wonder that Passion for Food & Wine sold out. The $650-a-ticket event at the Four Seasons Baltimore offered each of its 160 guests a seat at a table where a prominent Baltimore-area chef prepared a full dinner in front of them.
"The chefs are very interactive with the people sitting at their table. So there's a lot of camaraderie ... they tell you why they picked a certain item, and why they paired it with a wine. ... So it's wonderful to be a guest here," said Sheila Kendrick, one of the co-chairs of the event, which benefited the state chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
For co-chair Elisa Schwartz, who has cystic fibrosis, the "passion" of the evening was also extremely personal. She said money raised by the organization helped develop medicines that have benefited her tremendously.
"I am a different person today because of that," she said. "I'm looking forward to drugs that will be coming out shortly, and that wouldn't be happening if it wasn't for the people here."
