With 1,100 people descending upon Martin's West for the Associated Black Charities annual gala, event chair Chineta Davis and her committee made sure there was plenty to keep the crowd entertained throughout the night.
After a cocktail hour and seated dinner and program, guests could adjourn to a "casino" in one room, relax in a "jazz lounge" in another area, or dance the night away to a live band in the ballroom.
"This is our premiere event of the year, a time when we come to celebrate the work we do all year long," board chair Bowyer Freeman said of the $200-per-ticket gala.
For J.P. Grant, Grant Capital Management president, and his wife, Dr. Judy Grant, University of Maryland School of Medicine radiologist, there was also another draw.
"[President/CEO] Diane Bell-McKoy is the driving force behind ABC. She enhances our community in so many different facets, that I am driven to support her," said J. P. Grant.
