Amy Weglein, 45, took a cue from the sea theme of "Beer, Boats & Ballads" to put together her outfit for the signature fundraiser of Sail Baltimore, the non-profit responsible for bringing ships to Baltimore and hosting maritime events. "I just wanted something summery and something bright that would make me feel good," said the registered nurse and Travelers Insurance legal nurse consultant. "And when I feel good, I hope to empower other people to feel good, because you give more eye contact and smile more. ... I think you have a happier day when you dress nicely." A certain pet peeve of this Sparks resident also played an important role. "I wouldn't have worn a strapless dress if I had tan lines. I have to have no tan lines. It's like chipped nail polish to me." Her style: Classic accessorized. "I love to accessorize. I love those extra little special pieces that you pick up and maybe pair with something simple that is a little more eye-popping; that makes you feel good throughout your day." Her ensemble: Orange and pale blue coral-patterned strapless J. McLaughlin sundress. Orange slides from the Las Vegas Hermes store. Orange plastic party favor lei. Turquoise crystal-ball drop earrings from The Little Shoebox. Orange and baby blue enamel Hermes bangles from New York City. A "peace and tranquility bracelet" Mother's Day gift from her youngest son stacked with a Rolex watch that was a gift. Leather-trimmed wicker J. McLaughlin shoulder bag. Her sunshine: "I love orange. It's one of my favorite colors. I think it's a happy color that you can wear all seasons. It makes you glow. That's what it's all about, especially when you're over 40 and a mom. You need to put on that little extra glow."
