( Karen Jackson, for The Baltimore Sun / January 26, 2013 ) Pictured: Craig Newcomb, left, Adrianne Le Grand and Jose Henriquez The Roaring '20s met the new millennium at the central Enoch Pratt Free Library, as the Pratt Contemporaries' annual Black and White Party adopted the theme of F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel "The Great Gatsby." Scores of flappers and Dapper Dans danced as a DJ spun tunes in a Model T in the center of the library's main hall. "The young people of Baltimore want a fun dance party, and that's what we offer," said Kate Powell, event chair and chair of Pratt Contemporaries, a group of young professionals who support the Pratt and seek to raise the public's awareness of the library. Said library CEO Carla Hayden: "I think this is wonderful -- 600 young people and people young at heart." Robyn Murphy, a media consultant, attended with her husband, former NFL football player Jason Murphy. "You get to dress up in something funky and have a good time," she said. Many guests had done their homework. The room was full of fedoras, fringed dresses, glittery headdresses, ropes of pearls, bow ties, suspenders, furs and feather boas -- all in black and white.
