Today's Birthday (05/27/12). You've always had a gift with words. It's extra potent with Mercury in your sign for the next three weeks....
I thought the story was great. Makes me think more about my dad and his daily challenges. I'm thankful that I am close enough to him to be there for him. Great story.

My mother died last year from Alzheimer's. She lived with me and my family until 4 months before she died. Your article captured the day to day struggles and feelings of the caregiver and the person with Alzheimer's.

Being a senior citizen myself,I found your account of the lives of the residents of Leisure World to be of particular significant importance.Cong-ratulations on a job well done.

Well written, but , at 50, I found stories profoundly depressing. Who wants to think about arrangements for your funeral being made by strangers? Perhaps at 35, the writer is too far removed from the ages of her subjects to do those of us closing in on this age any kindness.

the writing is excellent. The portrayal of Leisure Worls is unbelievable.Af-ter all are there not people living and enjoying Leasure Worls at the ages of 55 and 60.The article is too depressing and we as the older crows sure would have enjoyed a more up beat acticle.

Illness and death are real. They are everyday realities for those who are old. You can choose to be depressed by them, or you can deal with them. "Old age is not for sissies."

ALL people who are interested in ATTENDING the dance should be accommodatedwit-hout making BRIBES (sparkling wine) to get tickets??? Requests for Line Dancing because participants do not need a partner) is a good idea! ALL people should have fun. Petty rules should be discouraged.

Can't stop reading the articles, but I find them really depressing. Is this what I have to look forward to? Just shoot me.

This series reminded me of my father's slide into the oblivion of early onset Alzheimers followed by the decline of my aging mother. This series was done with grace and sensitivity. I hope the people featured have strength for the difficult days ahead.

I'm almost 30 and recently engaged. Mr. Oliver's devotion to Florence has completely redefined my youthful notions of commitment. His love and patience left me weeping.
