Handicapping 'Dancing with the Stars' [Pictures]
While most of the country might not recognize most of the "stars" on the 16th season of "Dancing With the Stars," at least Baltimoreans will have two recognizable names to root for.
Jacoby Jones, the Ravens wide receiver who caught the Mile High Miracle pass (aka the F Bomb) to beat Denver in the playoffs last year -- and who ran back a kickoff 108 yards in the Super Bowl -- will be paired with Karina Smirnoff. Olympic champion figure skater (and Baltimorean) Dorothy Hamill will team up with Tristan MacManus.
Here are our predictions for this season's contestants, split into four categories: top tier, middle of the pack, cannon fodder and wild card.

TOP TIER: Alexandra Raisman
Pro Partner: Mark Ballas
Think back, all the way back to last summer. Aly here was the cool-as-a-cucumber gymnast who emerged as the gut-it-out member of the U.S. Women's Gymnastics team. Her floor exercise to "Hava Nagila" brought the house down and earned her a gold medal. She's young, strong, and gymnasts and figure skaters do well on this show. (See: Shawn Johnson, Kristi Yamaguchi) Also: I will eat a leotard if Ballas doesn't get them some sort of routine to "Hava Nagila" before the season's over. |
