Her attitude about shopping is the same as it is about accessorizing: minimal. But Conneely says she's been doing more of it since August. That's when she and her husband moved to Baltimore from Richmond, Ky., where he had been Eastern Kentucky University's vice president for student affairs and associate provost.
"We have many more social obligations here than we did there. So I'm shopping a lot. ... Cocktail attire, evening wear, good classic pieces; pants, jackets, dresses. I'm wearing a lot more dresses these days."
HER STYLE: "Classic." She loves to dress in jewel-tone colors; red being her particular favorite.
WHAT SHE WAS WEARING: Black faux mink trimmed off-the-shoulder long sleeve black velvet floor-length Cachet gown that she bought years ago. Rhinestone-embellished black fabric low-heeled shoes she's had for a while.
IT WAS ALL ABOUT THE DRESS: "It's a holiday. It seemed a perfect opportunity to put on a little something glamorous, but at the same time warm."
BALTIMORE STYLE VS. RICHMOND, KY., STYLE: "A little more glamour. A little more sparkle. I'm admiring women who are wearing brocade and things with jewels embellishing the neckline."Matthew Paul D'Agostino, for The Baltimore Sun
