There was the 65th anniversary of the organization, which provides services to the disabled. Many folks came to salute the evening's honoree, Bob Wallace, BITH Energy founder/president. Then, there was the evening's entertainment -- the Temptations, the Pointer Sisters and Little Anthony and the Imperials. "[It's] the best talent that some old people like me remember," said Patrick Bagley, Chimes International chair and event co-chair with A.C. George, Chimes Foundation chair. "I grew up with [the emcee, '60s DJ] Cousin Brucie," said Marty Lampner, Chimes president/CEO. "I'm a little young for this, but I remember all of these acts. I was just a kid though. Really," said Wanda Draper, WBAL-TV director of programming, as her husband, Dr. Robert Draper, Johns Hopkins Hospital orthopedic surgeon, and friends Alonzo Williams, Baltimore-based author, and Cheryl Williams, Lutheran World Relief marketing director, joined her in that protestation and then cracked up. |
